Dr. Delicia Lakhan | Dr. Lakhan, originally from Trinidad and Tobago, graduated veterinary school from Louisiana State University. She has a strong interest in client education and enjoys meeting clients and helping their pets live long, happy, healthy lives. Although you wouldn't know it by looking at her, she loves to eat, try new foods and eat some more. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the movies, and listening to music. Her cat, Lily, (a rescue cat from hurricane Katrina) keeps her happy at home by sitting in her lap and she never misses a meal. Dr. Lakhan loves what she does and provides great care and compassion to our clients and patients. |
| Dr. Amanda G Tarter | Dr. Tarter joined our team in May, 2008. She grew up on a dairy farm in Nancy, Kentucky and always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Tarter obtained her bachelorâ??s degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, and went on to graduate from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She has a strong passion and talent for emergency medicine. Before joining us in May, she completed a 13 month internship in small animal emergency medicine and surgery. She went on to practice at American Animal Emergency in Deerfield Beach and Emergency Pet Care of Jupiter.
Dr. Tarter is newly married to Thomas Reed, who is a Ft. Lauderdale Narcotics Detective. Together, they are raising a family of 3 cats and 3 dogs. The oldest of the 6 is Abbey who is an 11 year old long haired calico kitty. Next is Sasha, a 6 year old Dutch Shepherd Dog working as a Ft. Lauderdale Police narcotics detection canine. Morgan is a Jack Russell Terrier who attended vet school with Dr. Tarter and keeps us on our toes here at the hospital. Buffalo is a 2 year old Chocolate Lab who is an avid Buffalo Bills fan and thinks that the garden hose makes an AWESOME chew toy! Thurman, their 2 year old tuxedo kitty is in love with Morgan. The baby of the family is Stella. She is an 8 month old kitty who was rescued from the rafters of an old building and thinks her job is to eat and torture everyone in the house.
When sheâ??s not working, you can find Dr. Tarter in the kitchen whipping up something yummy, or spending time with friends and family. She has a terrible weakness for pizza, ice cream and vegetable soup. |
