Doctors
Aracely Acevedo
Dr. Aracely Acevedo joined Banfield in 2004 serving as pet nurse and client service coordinator while attending Iowa State University and receiving a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science. Dr Acevedo continued her education and graduated from the University of Illinois as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, a position she has held with Banfield since 2011. She loves working with Banfield for their high quality medicine, affordable care, and optimum wellness plans. Growing up in Chicago, she is very happy to be back and practicing in such a beautiful part of the city. Outside of work, she enjoys playing softball, sand volleyball, and taking her two Golden Retrievers to the many great dog parks in Chicago.
Dr. Acevedo loves all aspects of Veterinary Medicine but has special interest in exotic medicine, dentistry, and internal medicine. She also participates in community outreach programs and represents Banfield in "Future Vets" educating and encouraging students in the veterinary field. She welcomes students to shadow at the practice if they are interested in pursuing a career in the veterinary field.
Jessica Trice
Dr. Jessica Trice is a graduate from Tuskegee University, School of Veterinary Medicine and has been with Banfield upon her graduation, in 2007. Dr. Trice currently serves as Chief of Staff for the new Lincoln Park South hospital.
Her interest in animals occurred when she was 9 yrs old. Her cat had to be rushed to the ER for having a urinary blockage and was amazed on how quickly the doctors worked and cared for her pet. The feelings she had knowing that her pet was saved is the same feeling she wants to incorporate to her clients and patients. As Dr. Trice treats many pets, she wants to ensure passion, prevention, and the client-doctor relationship.
Dr. Trice focuses on both routine and non-routine surgeries (gastropexy, cystotemy, enterotemy, gastrotemy, etc), exotics, and endocrine disorders. At Banfied, Dr. Trice participates in the coaching of doctors and in the mentoring of young veterinary students in the area. She also has had opportunities to speak to children at their schools and museums about veterinary medicine and performing free physical exams/consultations at pet health fairs. Being a veterinarian gives her the opportunity to not only saves lives but help ensure their quality of life by educating clients about prevention.
The best part of her job is the chance to play w/ all the new puppies and kittens she meets! Dr. Trice has a kitten, a Himalayan, named Mariah, aka Mimi.
