Dr. Houston has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2004 when she graduated from Colorado State University. She is originally from the deserts of Arizona and is still adjusting to the Oregon rain. Dr. Houston lives with four cats, one adorable Irish Terrier, and two cute leopard geckos. Her husband, Shan, has been a wonderful addition to the clan. She was the head veterinarian for over 1500 alpacas just after graduation but then shifted gears to small and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Houston is excited to be a part of Barlow Trail Vet Clinic and looks forward to continuing her excellent client and patient care.
Dr. Christenson completed his veterinary degree at Oregon State University in 1983. He has been working at Barlow Trail Veterinary Clinic since 1996. He enjoys being a mixed animal practitioner. His other professional interests include client education, soft tissue surgery, and orthopedic surgery. Outside the clinic he enjoys traveling, baseball, gardening, and spending time with his wife and two grown children. Other members of the family include his horses and cat, Dually.
Dr. Katie completed her veterinary degree at the University of Minnesota in 2006. She is a native of North Dakota where she grew up on a farm. She moved to Grants Pass, Oregon shortly after graduating and as luck would have it she met her husband, Ryan, there. After 2 years, they moved to Portland where she became an associate at Barlow Trail Vet Clinic. Her professional interests include dentistry, soft tissue surgery, preventative care, and client education. Dr. Katie enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband and their 3 cats, Bob, Gimli, and Quinn. Also, their dog Momo concludes the family.
