Dogs and cats are our primary patients at Flying Cloud Animal Hospital, though our veterinarians can treat pocket pets and some birds. Flying Cloud Animal Hospital is certified by the American Animal Hospital Association. Only a small number of veterinary practices in the United States receive this prestigious designation.

Dr. Steven Harris
Dr. Steven Harris established Flying Cloud Animal Hospital in 1982. A native of South Dakota, Dr. Harris attended Montana State University, where he majored in pre-veterinary medicine. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 1977. His professional interests include internal medicine, surgery and behavioral medicine.
Dr. Harris raises and shows horses and currently has 16 horses under his care. Dr. Harris serves on the executive board of directors for the National Reining Horses Association. He has four cats and two dogs, Jeff and Ruthie. Dr. Harris' other interests include downhill skiing, running, fly fishing hiking and hobby farming.
Dr. Harris a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Jeffrey Krull
A native of South Dakota, Dr. Jeffrey Krull began practicing medicine at Flying Cloud Animal Hospital in 2002.
Dr. Krull received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Southwest State University in 1995. He went on to attend the Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine where he was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Dr. Krull's professional interests include dermatology, dentistry, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Krull is a member of numerous professional and community organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Carver Lions Club. He is also the organizer of the annual Carver Steamboat Days pet show.
When he's not at the hospital, Dr. Krull can be found biking, running and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings. He has two cats, George and Sida Lee.
Dr. Henry Philmon
Dr. Henry Philmon has been a veterinarian for nearly five decades. Dr. Philmon began practicing medicine at Flying Cloud in 1990 as a general practitioner. In 1993, he took over as the hospital's relief veterinarian. Dr. Philmon is also the creator and owner of the Mobile Animal Surgical Hospital.
Dr. Philmon attended Iowa State University, where he was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Science. He went on to attend the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1958. After receiving his degree, Dr. Philmon served in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, where he attained the rank of captain.
A member of numerous professional societies, Dr. Philmon has certifications in exotic animal care, dentistry and laser applications. His professional interests include surgery, geriatrics, exotics, dentistry and laser applications.
Dr. Philmon's hobbies include electronics, listening to jazz, dancing, tennis, automobiles and sports. He has two grown children, Leslie and Donald.
Dr. Mary Petersen
A general practitioner at Flying Cloud Animal Hospital since June 2008, Dr. Mary Petersen originally hails from Hopkins, Minnesota. She cared for pets at a number of veterinary hospitals throughout the state before coming to Flying Cloud Animal Hospital. Dr. Petersen attended the University of Minnesota and received her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science in 1984. She continued her veterinary education at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1988.
A member of the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association and a past member of the University of Minnesota Alumni and Friends Society, Dr. Petersen also volunteers as an information guide at her church.When she's not at the hospital, she enjoys gardening, hiking, reading and spending time outdoors with her dog, Striker.
