Dr. Karen Kennedy received both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in microbiology from the University of Georgia. She worked in research for Emory University, the Centers for Disease Control and the Environmental Protection Agency before earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University. Dr. Kennedy is a member of the A.V.M.A. and N.C.V.M.A.
Dr. Kennedy knew she wanted to be a veterinarian as early as elementary school. Her devotion to animals is evident in both her professional and personal life. The current menagerie consists of five dogs, three cats, and two horses. Her latest undertaking is doing agility training with her Gordon Setters. She enjoys life on the farm with her family and friends.
Dr. Vicki McCall received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001, and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State in 2005. Despite living in Raleigh for four years, she remains an avid Tar Heel fan.
Dr. McCall is passionate about nurturing the special bond between people and their pets, and is proud to be a member of the caring veterinarians at Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital. Her special interests include pain management and dentistry.
Dr. McCall enjoys spending time with her husband Ryan, along with their two dogs Roscoe and Penny, and their 2 cats Chewbacca and Elvis.
Dr. Melissa Magnotta was raised in Connecticut where she earned her Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology from Quinnipiac University. After practicing as a veterinary technician in small animal emergency, general practice, and at Sea World, she decided it was finally time to apply to veterinary school.
Dr. Magnotta graduated with honors from Oklahoma State University. (Go Pokes!) While in school, she worked at the global and local level doing research for the World Health Organization and volunteering at local shelters. Her love for veterinary medicine and desire to be close to family has brought her to North Carolina. She lives with a coconut-retriever, Roo, and a well-traveled cat, Hubbard. Dr. Magnotta is excited to be a part of the Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital team!
Dr. Barker has received a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Elon University, a Bachelors degree in Animal Science from North Carolina Agriculture and Technical University. She completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Dr. Barker loves every aspect of medicine. She is a member of the A.V.M.A. and the N.C.V.M.A.
Dr. Barker followed in her fathers footsteps becoming a second generation veterinarian. She gained years of essential experience assisting her father in his veterinary practice in Eden, NC during high school and college. Dr. Barker has given many lost "babies" a better life, including fifteen cats and a Greyhound, Magie "MooCow" who was adopted her last year in veterinary school. She enjoys spending time with her "babies", friends, and family. She is excited to join the Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital team!
