We believe in treating our patients with the sympathy, compassion and care that every animal deserves while treating their owners with the respect and honesty that they deserve.
Island Veterinary Care was established with both clients and their pets in mind. Our owners have busy schedules or are on a well earned vacation. Our pets are more comfortable in their own homes.
The most stressful aspect of a veterinary visit is usually the ride to the clinic. We eliminate this stress by coming to you, offering a wide array of veterinary services in the comfort and convenience of your home.
Our services include annual exams, vaccinations, complete labwork including heartworm tests, feline leukemia tests, chemistry panels and urinalysis. For itchy pets, we offer a full dermatology work-up as well as nutritional counseling. When it is time to say goodbye to your friend, we offer compassionate in-home euthanasia's.
We perform a full nose to tail examination so that any skin irritations, digestive problems, heart or lung abnormalities are noted before they become a serious problem. We are fully equipped with everything your pet needs for a thorough exam including vaccinations, labwork, and a microscope for on-site skin/ear evaluations.

Dr. Shannon Barrett
Dr. Shannon Barrett is a resident of Isle of Palms and a South Carolina native. She obtained her first undergraduate degree from Clemson University and a second undergraduate degree from California State University. Her doctorate in veterinary medicine was earned from Western University of Health Sciences in southern California, where she graduated with honors.
She has worked at several veterinary clinics in California and the Carolinas, including a year-long internship at one of the premier veterinary emergency hospitals on the east coast.
After practicing emergency medicine, Dr. Barrett and her husband wanted a calmer pace of life where she could get to know her patients and her clients. She loves the Charleston area and looks forward to meeting you and your furry friends!
When you trust us with the care of your pet, you can trust that we will treat him or her as our own.
