Our clinic facility is equipped with stocks for the following equine procedures: Wellness exams, Routine dentistry, Worming advice and parasitic evaluation, Blood Testing, X-rays, Castration, Vaccinations, Laceration repair, Lameness examination.We recommend transporting your horse to the clinic, for more extensive and thorough procedures.
Wellness Exam We recommend pet wellness exams be done twice a year, to insure good health. Twice yearly exams offer these benefits: early detection and treatment of potentially deadly diseases or conditions. Doctors
Dr. Roger A. Horst
Dr Horst has been a private practitioner since 1981 in the Mercersburg area. A 1979 graduate of West Virginia University with a B.S. in Animal and Veterinary Science and a 1981 graduate of Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He is married and the father of four sons. In his spare time, Dr. Horst enjoys gardening, woodworking, traveling and spending time with his family.
Aubrey, Veterinary Technician
Aubrey joined our staff in June 2002 following her graduation from Wilson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. A compassionate animal lover, Aubrey has a variety of animals at home; 2 pygmy goats, Poncho and Lefty, a mixed breed dog, Bullwinkle, a Great Dane, Merle, and a Belgian horse, Prince. Aubrey handles inventory control for medical supplies and drugs, assists the doctor in surgeries and general exams, and can even be found out on the farm assisting with blood testing, and more complicated procedures.
Becky, Veterinary Technician
Becky joined our staff in December 2008. She graduated from Wilson College, Pennsylvania in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. Becky is currently enrolled at Penn State, working towards a medical degree as a registered nurse. Around the office, you will find her assisting the doctor in an exam room, taking X-rays in radiology, or running bloodwork in the lab. When she is not studying or working, Becky enjoys spending time with her husband Eric and her cattledog/beagle/foxhound mix, Marshall. You will also find her playing volleyball, gardening, cake decorating, or just enjoying the outdoors.
Judy, Receptionist
Judy joined our staff in October 2009 as a receptionist. She graduated from Hagerstown Business College in 1977 with a business degree. After 25+ years in the human medical field she has found it delightful to be a part of a veterinary medical team. You will find Judy throughout the office answering telephones and greeting clients. She not only enjoys seeing the variety of pets with their owners at work, she enjoys playing with her own cats, Baby, Boo and George. When she is not at work, Judy loves to spend time with her grandsons and tending to her flower
