Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital opened it's doors to serve pets and their owners in 1977. Our hospital is a Certified Member Hospital of the American Animal Hospital Association, a special designation reflecting exceptionally high standards of professional care. These standards were developed in order to raise the bar of veterinary excellence.

The entire staff of Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital is dedicated to providing high quality medical and surgical care to each of our patients. This includes preventive health care, dentistry, ultrasound, laser therapy, pain management and nutritional counseling. Our facility, equipment and techniques are the most modern and up-to-date.

David Tollon, DVM, Owner

David Tollon, DVM, Owner

Our fearless leader enjoys running, exercising, boating and travel. He is a marathon runner who has participated in the Boston and New York Marathons. David currently has one pet, Abby, a Dachshund. He graduated from Ohio State University with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and from St. Leo College with his Master of Business Administration. He says that his favorite part of the job is the client contact.

Lynn Buonasera, DVM

Dr. Buonasera graduated from the University of Florida with her veterinary degree in 1987, and joined Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital soon after graduating. She says that when she was three or four, her mom took her to her god-parents house where she made the statement that she wanted to be a doggie doctor and has never changed her mind. Dr â??Bâ?? currently has three cats: May-Li, Tuxie and Sophie. Her favorite part of the job is seeing her clients and their pets, helping sick pets get better, new puppy and kitten visits and emergencies.

Cheryl Ayscue, DVM

Dr. Ayscue graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She followed an unusual path, starting her career as a teacher, then obtaining a master�??s degree in counseling in order to work with children and their families. Dr. Ayscue finds that being a veterinarian is a perfect blend of her previous careers, as every day involves teaching families how best to care for their pets and helping to counsel them through decision involving their pets�?? health. She currently has a beagle named Mikey, a lab-pointer mix named Jackson, a cat named Cocoa, and a leopard tortoise called Sudan.

Autumn McKenzie, DVM

Dr. McKenzie graduated from UF College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2007. She enjoys horseback riding, reading, travel, and time with her family. She has two pugs â?? Auggie and Rocco, a cat â?? Stinky, and a horse â?? Misty. She has always enjoyed science and medicine, but she turned towards veterinary medicine after spending a day with an equine vet. She enjoys the interactions and bond between owners and their pets. Her interests include soft tissue surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, and pediatrics.

Kimberly Donovan, DVM

Dr. Donovan graduated from Ross University in 1997. She enjoys dancing, tennis, horse back riding and reading. Dr. Donovan explains that her path towards veterinary medicine started as a child where she was surrounded by cats and dogs. "The bond that I had with my pets as a child was such an important part of my happiness and well being", she states. Dr. Donovan says she learned many lessons from caring for her own pets. She learned about forgiveness, unconditional love, patience, responsibility and determination. These valuable lessons and the bonds she developed with her own pets encouraged her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She feels that helping others maintain and cherish the bonds they have with their pets is a vital part of her veterinary practice.

Karen Tyndall, DVM

Dr. Tyndall graduated from North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She has a special interest in feline medicine. She has two cats, Sunshine and Friskie.
