Description
Pharr Road Animal Hospital offers a unique combination of general veterinary care, animal rehabilitation and acupuncture, hospitalization, boarding, as well as advanced procedures in small animal surgery and dentistry.
We provide the highest quality veterinary care in a professional and compassionate environment. Our team is committed to your pet's health by excelling in the practice and science of veterinary medicine.
Pharr Road Animal Hospital started in 1974 as a small practice with two veterinarians and one goal — to become Atlanta’s premier veterinary care center. With a relocation and a rennovation behind us, we have achieved that goal. Our staff now includes seven veterinarians, two are certified acupuncturists, one is a certified physical therapist and one has a Masters of Public Health, the best support team in the area, and four friendly house cats.
We stay on the cutting edge of technology, trends and practical veterinary medicine. We utilize the most recent advances in diagnostic equipment, procedures, surgery and medical skills available in order to keep our patients healthy.
We understand the difficulties that can arise in medical treatment, and we do our best to make things easy and understandable for our clients through communication and education. We aim to keep our clients involved in the decision making process with regards to their pets, remembering that clients and patients are members of our extended family.

Afterwards, he practiced veterinary medicine in North Carolina for two years before joining Atlanta Pet Hospital. He bought the animal hospital and started Pharr Road Animal Hospital in 1976. Pharr Road Animal Hospital moved to its current location in 1990.
Dr. Petty has been a long-time member of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Steve Winokur – DVM, CVA
Dr. Winokur was born in New York City, New York.He received his Bachelor of Science from S.U.N.Y College at Cortland. His father was a small animal veterinarian, who had a solo practice in Larchmont, NY. He spent a few summers and the year after college graduation working at his father’s practice. Prior to matriculation at Georgia, he worked towards a Master’s Degree at Emory Medical School in the physiology department. As a grad student, an Atlanta lacrosse teammate and employee of PRAH, introduced him to Dr. Petty.
