Description
Seven Hills Veterinary Center opened for business on December 22, 1985. Since then we have expanded our facility four times, adding services, doctors, and support staff in order to meet the growing needs of our clients and patients. After graduating from Colorado State University, our founding owner, Drs. Mullen and Ley completed an intensive internship at West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. Their camaraderie and philosophy toward veterinary medicine led them into private practice together, and they continue to provide superior veterinary medicine. Dr. Matthew Demey, a graduate of the Michigan State University and an associate veterinarian with us since June 2000, became a partner this year.
We have been accredited members of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) since 1987. In order for us to achieve and maintain accreditation, we must exceed AAHA's strict standards in several categories, including our building, patient care, diagnostic equipment, and our practice philosophies. We are very proud of this in light of the fact that only 15% of all veterinarians in the USA attempt to achieve accreditation, and we are the only hospital in Aurora to have done so.

Michael E Ley, DVM
I attended Colorado State University for my under graduate work and was then accepted into the school of veterinary medicine where I graduated in May 1981. After moving to California to do an internship at the West Los Angeles Veterinary Medical Group I couldn’t wait to get back to Colorado. My special interest has developed in the field of surgery where I focus my continuing education. After all these years of practice I continue to love working with people, their pets, practicing medicine and doing surgery. When I’m not practicing medicine I enjoy woodworking, camping and skiing.
Jeffrey L Mullen, DVM
I graduated from Colorado State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in January of 1981. After veterinary school I did a preceptorship at the Denver Zoo, then an internship at the prestigious West Los Angeles Veterinary Medical Group until July 1982. Through the years my interests have migrated to gastroenterology, endoscopy and laparoscopy. I have known since I was 10 years old that I wanted to be a veterinarian because of my interest in medicine and the healing arts along with my deep and abiding love for animals. When I have spare time I enjoy volunteering at our childrens’ high school, traveling, scuba diving, golf, tennis, hiking, camping, mountain biking, singing and writing.
Matthew S Demey, DVM
I graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2000. I wanted to move to Colorado to enjoy the mountains and was fortunate to start working at SHVC right out of school. My special interests of veterinary medicine are in orthopedic and laparoscopic surgery. Medicine has always been a passion of mine and veterinary medicine was the perfect choice to combine this passion with my love for animals of all kinds. In my spare time I enjoy rock and ice climbing, skiing, cycling and mountaineering.
Chandra Francis, DVM
I attended Colorado State University where I received a BS, MS and my DVM. I wanted to be an advocate for animals welfare and veterinary medicine allows me to combine my love for animals with the challenge of medicine. When I'm not working I enjoy camping, hiking, rafting, snow-broarding and spending time with my husband and daughter.
Julie Supon, DVM
I received my DVM from Colorado State University. I chose this career because it combines my love of the biomedical sciences and my passion for animal care. I have known this was the career for me since kindergarten. My desire only became stronger as I worked with veterinarians throughout high school and college. I love to be outdoors – my husband and I love to hike, kayak, fly fish, climb 14ers and cross country ski. My husband works for Raytheon Polar Services and travels to Antarctica often, so I love to travel to new places with him – though I’ve never been there. When I’m not treating patients, I volunteer through my church and the DAVMS.
Rachel Pierce, DVM
I graduated from St Michael's College in Vermont with a BS in Biology, then on to Colorado for the rest. At CSU, I earned my Masters in Anatomy before vet school where I earned my DVM in 2007. I wanted to combine my love of medicine with my desire to provide compassionate care for pets. I Love being in Colorado, and enjoy mountain biking, rock and ice climbing, mountaineering, traveling and reading.
