St. Francis Animal Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA was founded in 1994 by Dr. Stephen McAuliff. We moved into our current state of the art facility in 2002. St. Francis Animal Hospital is a full service animal hospital, whose commitment is to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime. We are able to do this by having state of the art equipment.
We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care. We treat your pet as we would our own. Our goal is to practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education. Our entire healthcare team is committed to providing personal attention to the unique concerns of each individual pet owner. A happy pet is a healthy pet!

Receptionists: The first group of people you encounter will be our highly trained and well versed front office staff. Three of the group have been at St. Francis for over 10 years. Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Services: Preventive care and wellness: Our hospital is equipped to provide all required wellness care for the life of your animal. Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.
Services: Anesthesia, Internal medicine, Radiology Services, Electrocardiography Services, Dentistry, Laboratory:Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Services:Permanent identification: Microchip identification, Pharmacy, Individualized Flea Control Programs, Dietary Counseling, Behavioral Counseling,Boarding: We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Doctors
Dr. Stephen McAuliff
Dr McAuliff is a Graduate of Oklahoma State University obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and DVM. Dr McAuliff started St Francis Animal Hospital in 1994 with a vision of cutting edge companion animal care. Dr McAuliff has 8 children, and is a dedicated father, as well as a dedicated veterinarian. He has a special interest in Orthopedics, surgery, dermatology, and older pets.
Leisure time is spent attending the childrens activities, and sports, which he really enjoys, and preparing meals. "My favorite time of year is the fall in Virginia, when the leaves change color."
Dr. Sally Ireland:
Dr. Sally Ireland grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland and Culpeper, Virginia. She attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where she majored in Animal Science. After graduating from VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, she worked in companion animal hospitals in Alexandria and Forest, VA. Dr. Ireland has been working at St. Francis Animal Hospital since 1998. Her major veterinary interests are in internal medicine and oncology.
Dr. Ireland lives in Orange county, with her husband, Rodney, and her daughter, Cassidy. She enjoys gardening, cooking, hiking, and canoeing. Her family's small organic farm raises beef cattle, free-range chickens, and Scottish Blackface sheep.
Dr. Andrew Olson:
Dr. Andrew Olson is an associate veterinarian that joined Saint Francis Animal Hospital during the summer of 2004. Dr. Olson attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 2000. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Dr. Olson's professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and ultrasound. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Olson and his wife, Amy have a 3 year old daughter named Emma Sue and a newborn son named Henry. They share their home with a number of pets, including a boxer named Mambo, three cats and five fish. His hobbies include hiking, biking, running, skiing, and boating.
