Dr. Vicki Eppard
Medical Director

Dr. Eppard graduated from CSU in 1993, and has been with the Hospital since 1994. In her free time she enjoys competing in AQHA Horse shows & western events. Dr. Eppard & her Husband enjoy spending time with their Golden Retrievers, Rottweiler, Deerhound & Jack Russel Pack.
Jennifer Pearson
Veterinary Specialist

Dr. Pearson was born and raised in Iowa. She graduated from Iowa State University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in 1993. She then completed a one year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Missouri. Following her internship, she was accepted into the residency program at the University of Missouri where she completed her 3 year residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Pearson was also enrolled in the Master's program during her residency. She finished her Master's Degree in Veterinary Clinical Sciences and completed her residency in 1997. In that same year she became board certified with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. She then opened her own referrral and emergency practice in Omaha, NE. She remained in Omaha for four years and then moved to Michigan and practiced with Michigan Veterinary Specialists for 1 1/2 years. She has been practicing internal medicine in the Denver area since May 2003. Along with practicing clinical medicine, she has been an Internal medicine consultant for Antech Diagnostics for the last 3 years. Dr. Pearson enjoys teaching and has played an active role in training numerous interns and residents.
Dr. Pearson has been highly trained in all aspects of internal medicine; however, she has a special interest in neurology, endocrinology, hematology, nephrology, immunology, and respiratory diseases.
Dr. Pearson especially enjoys watching her daughter Laramie, play compentitive softball. Her other interests include cycling, running, hiking, and skiing. A black lab (Paisley), a Shi Tzu (Beans), and two cats (Marie and Zeuss) complete her family.
Jeff Yu
Veterinary Specialist

Dr. Jeff Yu is a 2004 graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. After veterinary school, he completed a surgery/internal medicine rotation internship at Purdue University followed by a surgical internship at VCA VSNC. He was then accepted into a three year surgical residency at VCA All Care (a large referral only practice in Southern California) from 2006 - 2009.
Dr. Yu joined the surgery department at VCA Douglas County Animal Hospital in November of 2009.
Outside of the hospital Dr. Yu enjoys spending time with his wife and son, and playing with their 4 cats, 1 dog, 2 horses and their turtle. He also enjoys hiking, camping, photography, fishing and horseback riding.
Dr. Amy Rewick
Associate Veterinarian
DVM, Ohio State University
Dr. Rewick graduated in 2005 from Ohio State University. After completing an internship, she joined the VCA family in 2006. Dr. Rewick enjoys ballroom dancing, skiing & hiking. Dr. Rewick and her Husband Daniel are the proud parents of Hailey the whippet mix.
Dr. Brenda Francis
Associate Veterinarian
DVM, Colorado State University
Originally from Rhode Island, Dr. Brenda Francis completed a B.S. in Cardiopulmonary Science with a minor in Mathematics at Northeastern University in 1999. Shortly thereafter, she and her husband moved to Colorado, in an effort to better enjoy the outdoors. While in Fort Collins, Dr. Francis worked as a critical care veterinary nurse. This experience, combined with her background in human medicine, led her to apply to the veterinary program at CSU, from which she graduated in May of 2008. After graduation, Dr. Francis completed a small animal rotating internship at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital.
During her time off, Dr. Francis enjoys spending time with her husband, Eric. They can often be seen riding bikes throughout the city & surrounding areas. When the rivers allow, some early summer hours are spent kayaking, while in the winter she enjoys snowboarding. Currently, she has three cats (Delilah, Sam and Autumn) and two dogs (Trey and Zoey), all with their own special needs.
Dr. Julie Hesse
Associate Veterinarian
DVM, Colorado State University
Dr. Hesse graduated in 1997 and has been working overnight emergency for our Hospital since 2004.
Dr. Hesse spends her free time riding dressage & shares her home with her two mixed breed Dogs.
Dr. Rona Schmidt
Associate Veterinarian
DVM, Colorado State University
Dr. Schmidt is a native of Hawaii. She Graduated in 2001 from CSU, and then completed a years internship in small animal medicine at Purdue University. After working at VCA Wingate for several years, she completed a Surgical Residency at VCA Care referral center in 2007. Since then Dr. Schmidt has been with our Hospital as our primary surgeon. When she is not reading about surgery, Dr. Schmidt enjoys Colorado's outdoors by four-wheeling with her Husband. They have four furry children- Morgan the Australian Shepard & Cats Natasha, Iilee & Ekolu.
Laura White
Associate Veterinarian
DVM, University of Tennessee
Dr. White was born and raised in New Hampshire. She graduated from Vassar College in 2005 with a BA in Neuroscience and Behavior. She then completed a research fellowship at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. where her research focused on inflammatory pathways involved in degenerative brain diseases including Parkinson's and Senile Dementia. She was then accepted to Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2010. Dr. White continued to move west, completing a year long rotating small animal internship at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital, before joining the staff at VCA Douglas County Animal Hospital. Her interests include Emergency Medicine and Endocrinology.
In her free time Dr. White enjoys hiking, running, reading and cross country skiing. She has a beagle named Tony, and two cats named Gary and Lucy.
Martin King
Associate Veterinarian
DVM, Kansas State University
Dr. King was born and raised in Wyoming. He graduated from veterinary school in 1997 from Kansas State University. He has been with VCA Douglas County Animal Hospital for the past two years. He enjoys hiking, 4 wheeling and spending time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren.
His special interests include emergency medicine for dogs, cats and non primate exotics
