Veterinary School: Purdue University
Dr. Rachel Coustan attended Dartmouth College and graduated in 1993 Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with a BA in psychology. After working with teenagers for several years, she decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Coustan attended Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. She was a member of Phi Zeta, the veterinary honor society. During her fourth year, Dr. Coustan received the AAHA senior student award for outstanding achievement in small animal medicine and surgery and the Hill’s Buddy award for excellence in small animal nutrition. She served as Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association president in 2009 and currently serves as Companion Animal Federation Board member and Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association immediate past president.
Dr. Coustan has been practicing at Povar Animal Hospital since her graduation in 2002. A Rhode Island native, she lives in Providence with her two sons, Noah and Jacob.
Veterinary School: Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Ceri Sveilich joined our practice October 2003 after practicing veterinary medicine in upstate NY for 1 year. She received a BA in psychology from Hoftstra University in NY. She received her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in June 200
Veterinary School: Purdue University
Dr. Matsinger grew up in Michigan and attended Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI receiving her BS in Chemistry in 1998. She then attended Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in West Lafayette, IN and graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2002. Since 2003 she has been practicing small animal veterinary medicine in the Rhode Island area. In her spare time, she enjoys many outdoor sports including hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking with her wife, Jodi, and two children, Dresden and Neila. She also shares her home with two Rottweilers, Jillian and Natalie and two cats, Sarabi and Wasabi.
