Breakthrough science with heart – at our hospitals, you get the best of both worlds. We're known for our warm, caring atmosphere as well as for our advanced veterinary technology. The latest diagnostic tools, surgical equipment and leading edge medical techniques enable us to provide your pet with many advanced services you might expect only from a large referral center.
Our commitment to helping animals reaches beyond the scope of our clients, serving the needs of all animals whenever we can. This includes accepting wildlife and injured strays at our hospital at no cost to the Good Samaritans who bring us these animals in need of veterinary care.
Dr. Colette Brazer, DVM
Dr. Brazer began working at Verona Animal Hospital in 2006, after having completed a one year, small animal and surgery internship program at Oradell Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey. Dr. Brazer is a “double Jumbo” - graduating both undergraduate and veterinary school from Tufts University in Massachusetts. Growing up, Dr. Brazer had the opportunity to live in many different countries throughout the world, but now considers herself a bona fide Jersey Girl. She lives in Wayne, NJ, with her husband Jeff, and two great “kids”: Sheeba (a pitbull mix) and Annie (their new terrier mix puppy). While Dr. Brazer's favorite pastime is walking in the woods by her house with her husband and dogs, she also enjoys traveling, cooking, and summertime barbeques.
Dr. Marisa Roberto, VMD
Born and raised in West Caldwell, NJ, Dr. Marisa Roberto's lifelong love of animals fueled her pursuit of veterinary medicine. Dr. Roberto graduated Veterinary school from the University of Pennsylvania. Having received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Roberto affirms she is a lifelong Fighting Irish fan. Away from the office, Dr. Roberto enjoys spending time with her family and cooking for and entertaining friends. Another favorite past time includes spending her free time in the summer down by the Jersey shore. Dr. Roberto and her husband Teddy share their home with one cat and a recently rescued puppy.
Dr. Anthony P. Scriffignano, DVM
Dr. Anthony P. Scriffignano was born in Newark, NJ. He completed his undergraduate studies at St. Peter's College in Jersey City, and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1976 From the University of Parma, Italy. In 1979, “Dr. Scriff,” as he is known, began his own practice, converting what was once a real estate office to what is now the Verona Animal Hospital. In 1985, Dr. Scriff purchased the Montclair Animal Hospital, adding a second location to his practice.
In his veterinary practice, Dr. Scriff particularly enjoys surgery and animal training and behavior. Outside of work, family is a top priority. He and his wife Liz have been married since 1971 and have three children; Marisa, Marla and Paul. Their family also includes three dogs, Rocco, Tre and Little D and two cats, Bosco and Copper. Other outside interests for Dr. Scriff include Ju Jitsu (he's held a black belt since 1968), motorcycles, cars and high performance driving.
