Selecting a clinic to entrust the health of a beloved family member to is an important decision, and once you are a member of the 5280 Veterinary Care community, located in the historic Whittier neighborhood, you can rest assured that you have made the right choice.

Our goal is to enable the companion animals of North Denver – Whittier, Skyland, Five Points, Curtis Park, Clayton, Cole, River North, Elyria Swansea, and more, to live the happiest and healthiest lives possible. Whether your cherished pet is a canine or a feline, nothing but the best care will do for the animals we share our lives with. Here at 5280, we strive to strengthen the special bond that owners and their pets share through our personable and warm bedside manner, in addition to our state-of-the-art facility.

Dr. Lesley Leach, Co-owner & Medical Director
Dr. Lesley Leach, Co-owner & Medical Director

Dr. Lesley Leach is the co-owner and medical director at 5280 Veterinary Care. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 2006. Prior to attending veterinary school, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Biology from the University of Wyoming. Dr. Leach has a professional interest in radiology.

Originally, Dr. Leach practiced in Northern Colorado before joining the team at Indian Tree Animal Hospital in Arvada. In 2016, she became co-owner of Indian Tree. Together with the award-winning veterinary team at Indian Tree, Dr. Leach and her fellow staff expanded and opened 5280 Veterinary Care as a second location near Denver’s River North Art District, in the heart of the historic Whittier neighborhood. Her favorite part about working at 5280 Veterinary Care is the close-knit family feel between hospital staff and clients alike.

Dr. Leach likes to spend her free time doing yoga, running, traveling, and taking photographs. Her favorite cuisines include wine, cheese, and artisan bread, and she always jumps at the opportunity to dine at Cochino Taco and Blue Sushi Sake Grill. Dr. Leach shares her home with Jeeves, a black D.S.H. cat who she describes as a bit of a vampire who loves to give love nibbles. Her first furbaby was a fiery orange tabby named Cleitus, and Devon Rex is her favorite breed of cat.

Dr. Anjuli Hein, Co-owner & DVM

Dr. Anjuli Hein is the co-owner of 5280 Veterinary Care. She graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a degree in Biology, and then continued on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree at Colorado State University in 2007. She specializes in acupuncture, and has professional interests in dentistry, soft-tissue surgery, senior pet care, and client education.

Dr. Hein was born and raised on a ranch in Kremmling, a small town in Northwestern Colorado, and she grew up working for her local veterinarian. After earning her veterinary degree, Dr. Hein worked at a mixed-animal practice in Salida, CO before joining the team at Indian Tree Animal Hospital in Arvada in 2008. She became a co-owner of Indian Tree in 2016, and is proud to open 5280 as a second hospital location near Denver’s River North Art District, in the heart of the historical Whittier neighborhood. Dr. Hein expresses that her clients and fellow staff make 5280 an amazing place to practice veterinary medicine.

Outside of being a passionate veterinarian, Dr. Hein enjoys reading, bike riding, skiing, hiking, and traveling. Her favorite food is seafood, and she also loves the Mexican cuisine at Lola. She shares a home with her husband, two small children, and two dogs: Olive, a golden retriever, and Mosley, a boxer. Her first pet was a quarter horse named Lady.

Chase Marr, DVM
Chase Marr, DVM

Dr. Chase Marr is an associate veterinarian at 5280 Veterinary Care. He received a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Kansas State University, earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University on the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts in 2015, and completed his clinical training at Purdue University. In addition, Dr. Marr worked in the veterinary field through high school and college, gaining valuable first-hand experience as a veterinary assistant. He has professional interests in internal medicine, neurology, and rehabilitation, and plans to get certified in rehabilitation in the near future.

Dr. Marr was born and raised in a small rural town with only 46 residents in southeast Kansas. He dreamt of living in Colorado, and after graduating from veterinary school, he made his dream a reality. Dr. Marr currently lives in Westminister, CO with his husband, Richard. He couldn’t be more excited to open a brand new, state-of-the-art facility near the River North Art District neighborhood.

Dr. Marr has a zeal for adventure, and often takes random and sporadic trips all over the United States. He also loves to ski, is a bit of a foodie, and his favorite movie, fittingly, is Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. At home, Dr. Marr has five dogs: Moe, a bulldog, Porthos, a Bernese Mountain Dog, Javier, a terrier mix, Sadie, a pitbull mix, and Figg, a Jack Russell mix. Amazingly, Sadie was born deaf and now knows sign language!

Celene Joza, DVM

Originally from southern California, Dr. Celene Joza obtained a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She earned her Doctor Veterinary Medicine degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, and completed her clinical training at the University of Georgia.
Dr. Joza has been with 5280 Veterinary Care since the practice opened in May 2018. She has also practiced high-quality veterinary care at our sister-location in Arvada, Indian Tree Animal Hospital, since February 2018. Dr. Joza has professional interests in geriatric medicine, nutrition, dermatology, and client education.

Outside of the hospital environment, Dr. Joza likes to spend her time hiking and camping. She is also a lover of burgers, all things B.B.Q., and the movie Steel Magnolias. While studying in Grenada, Dr. Joza adopted a pot hound named Dodgy, and she also has a black lab named Lapis and a Mini Rex Rabbit named Sadie.

Amanda "AJ" Jahn, Office Manager

Amanda ‘AJ’ Jahn is the office manager at 5280 Veterinary Care. She attended Colorado State University to earn her bachelor’s degree in biology, and even spent one semester in Australia learning Marine Sciences. Apart from those few months, she has lived in the beautiful state of Colorado her entire life.

AJ has professional interests in staff development, client experience, and patient care. Above all, AJ is driven to ensure all clients have positive experiences and all pets receive the outstanding veterinary care they need to be happy and healthy. She loves working with the amazing doctors and staff at 5280 and interacting with all of the incredible clients and adorable pets. AJ loves all breeds, but the breed that touches her heart the most is the Doberman Pinscher.

AJ enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, and cooking. Her favorite foods are raw fruits and vegetables, delicious vegan food, and Asian grub. She shares a home with her fiancé, David, and their pets. She has three parakeets named Niji, Tranquility, and Casper, a Chiweenie named Tater Tot and a collie mix named Rigby.
