Annapolis Cat Hospital is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, the only organization to accredit US pet hospitals. Unlike human hospitals, animal hospitals are not required to be accredited, and only about 15% are. As part of that 15%, Annapolis Cat Hospital has proven its commitment to the highest standard of veterinary care.
In May 1993, Dr. Longo purchased the Annapolis Cat Hospital, and just one year later, she opened the Bay Ridge Animal Hospital. For Dr. Longo, having the opportunity to make a positive difference in the life of both her patients and clients is a huge part of being a doctor of veterinary medicine. She says she strives to accomplish this everyday.
Dr. Longo lives in Edgewater with her husband and two children. They share their home with two Brittany Spaniels, Speedy and Sparky, and three cats, Comet, Capone, and Carley. When’s she’s not working with animals, Dr. Longo enjoys reading, baking, gardening, and home improvement.

Dr. Elise Powell joined the Annapolis Cat Hospital team in July 2018. Her medical style focuses on a holistic approach to preventative care with a strong belief that optimal health and happiness is achieved when an animal’s nutritional, genetic, behavioral and environmental needs are coordinated and addressed in a well balanced manner. Among her many passions is training and behavior, with over 25 years of experience in training, particularly as it relates to animal relinquishment and rescue. In practice, this knowledge is utilized to cultivate lifelong strong relationships between pet and owner. She has a particular fondness for getting puppies and kittens on the right track, but she also has a tender place in her heart for geriatric animals and pain management. She is currently enrolled in Curacore’s medical acupuncture course and will be certified in acupuncture in fall 2018.
In her spare time, Dr. Elise can be found being active in the outdoors. She loves cycling, running, hiking, traveling, and spending time on the water. She shares her home with her husband and two daughters. She has a German Shepherd named Bisous, and a black Labrador named Kossar
