Dr. DeGhetto was born and raised in northern New Jersey. She attended Seton Hall University, then moved to Colorado, where she graduated from the Veterinary school at Colorado State University. She completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at VCA in West Los Angeles, then spent several years doing field research on sea lions and fur seals in Alaska, Washington and California. After settling down in Washington, she worked at a mixed animal practice for a year, then moved to PAWS in Lynnwood to practice wildlife rehabilitation medicine and companion animal shelter medicine.
Dr. DeGhetto loves working with people and their beloved 4 legged family members. She has a special interest in gerontology and care of the aging pet, and exotic animal medicine. Dr. DeGhetto is also certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and plans to complete certification in Rehabilitation medicine. She lives in Seattle with her husband, 3 children (teenagers!), 3 small, adorable furry children and an 18 year old box turtle named Uguay.
Dr. Suzanne Byrd graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2009. She has lived in many places, but considers Washington and Hawaii to be home. She worked at the Banfield in Federal Way, WA for about 4 years, then was distracted by a shiny object for a while. She is now back at the Capitol Hill location and loves it! Dr. Byrd knows cats and dogs best, but is happy to help with almost any creature small enough to come into the hospital. We are so lucky to have her!read more
Dr. Hough was born in the Renton Highlands in Washington but happily calls Capitol Hill home. She attended Washington State University for her undergraduate degree in animal science before attending St. Matthew's University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Cayman Islands. She spent her last year of veterinary school in Pullman, WA at Washington State University which concluded in October 2018, and began working with the Banfield family in November 2018. Dr. Hough shares a home with a bonded pair of rabbits, Mac and Rory, along with a younger Chihuahua/rat terrier mix named Quill. Her hobbies include learning to play the guitar, playing board games with friends and family, and cooking, and her professional interests in veterinary medicine include cardiology, dermatology and ophthalmology. Dr. Hough hopes to eventually specialize in cardiology in the future.read more
Dr. Varilek is from Columbus, Nebraska (which is home but Washington is way better). She received her bachelor's in animal science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated from Iowa State University in 2017 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She has been with Banfield for almost 2 years now, and loves preventive medicine and helping pets live healthier lives. It's one of the reasons she wanted to become a veterinarian and one of the reasons she joined Banfield. Dr. Varilek has special interests in dermatology and nutrition, and one of her favorite hobbies is baking for her awesome coworkers (anything from cakes and cookies to flan!). She loves hiking, trying new food, and exploring Washington with her husband, Mike. Her patronus is a beagle..
