Dr. Ellen Smith
Dr. Ellen Smith

I graduated from the College of Biological Sciences at the University of Minnesota in 2006 where I majored in biology. After my undergraduate degree, I worked at an animal hospital in St. Paul for one year before starting veterinary school. I received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota in 2011. My veterinary interests include internal medicine, nutrition and dentistry. I am also interested in helping pets without homes, so I have volunteered at the Tri County Humane Society in St. Cloud and the Feline Rescue in St Paul. I am a member of the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. I share my home with my husband, Neil, our miniature dachshund, Tzeitel; lab mix, Raven; collie mix, Sweetie; and cat, Bill.

They hope to grow their family someday. He loves sports and fitness. Soccer is his primary sport of choice. He plays year round and has been on the same team since moving to Minneapolis in 2008. Dr. Mary Luebbers, Chief of Staff

Dr. Mary Luebbers attended undergraduate school at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and veterinary school at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She has been working for Banfield since November 2013, and believes that the best part about being a veterinarian is that she has a career that is also her passion. Her veterinary interests are brachycephalic breeds and surgery. After working outside Banfield, Dr. Luebbers was attracted to the organization because of its focus on preventive care and quality medicine. Client education and continuity of care are two things that she feels are important beyond routine care to really make sure we are extending the life of our pets to the maximum. Dr. Luebbers also has a special interest brachycephalics, specifically bulldogs!

Dr. Claire Norman
Dr. Claire Norman

Dr. Norman graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2013 and shortly after joined our Banfield team. She became a veterinarian because she always loved animals, small and large. What she loves most about veterinary medicine is that it allows her to help not only animals, but the people who care for them. She currently has no pets of her own, but she does help care for her parents standard poodle, Sydney. She lovingly refers to him as her "puppy brother". In her spare time she loves to participate in aerobics classes, especially Zumba. She also loves horses.
