Tiina Short, DVM
Tiina Short, DVM

Dr. Tiina Short graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Helsinki, Finland in 1994; she then moved to the states and graduated from the College of Veterinary of Medicine, Columbia, Missouri in 1995. She has since been practicing for 20 years. Dr. Short has two children who are grown and off at college, a wonderful husband of 23 years, and two delightful fur children, Floyd a 7 yr old Golden Retriever and Miina a 5 yr old cat. Dr. Short's hobbies include spin class, yoga, swimming, bicycling, and her family.

Vickie Swarowski, DVM

Dr. Vickie Swarowski is a Southern California native who was born in San Diego then ventured out to the University of Nevada, Reno to complete her undergraduate degree. She then graduated from Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Dr. Swarowski has since returned to beautiful San Diego as Banfield Escondido's Chief of Staff. Her special interests include small animal reproduction and soft tissue surgery. In her free time, Dr. Swarowski enjoys competing in dog events like agility, obedience, and herding.

Sarah Lutz, DVM

Dr. Sarah Lutz graduated from Ohio State University in 1994 and has been practicing ever since, 21 years. She has worked in veterinary hospitals all over the United States as well as overseas. Dr. Lutz is married to a wonderful husband and has two amazing children. In her free time, Dr. Lutz enjoys running and spending time with her family.

Ashley Reynolds, DVM

Dr. Ashley Reynolds is a native of San Diego and is excited to be a new Associate with the Banfield team. She graduated from the DVM program at Cornell University in 1996 and went on to earn a PhD in virology at Cornell in 2002. In 2008, Dr. Reynolds completed a K08 Mentored Clinical Scientist Fellowship focusing on animal models of pathogenesis in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University, and is experienced in teaching virology and immunology at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Besides her extensive academic research experience, she has worked as a laboratory animal veterinarian at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD and as a Supervisory Veterinary Medical Officer for the USDA. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family including five very active nieces and a nephew, and reading

Dr. Nick Thomas

Dr. Nick Thomas is the newest addition to our staff here at Escondido. He is a n

y graduated veterinarian from the University of Sydney in Australia. He grew up here in San Diego, and after high school he moved up to the LA region to start his undergraduate degree at Cal Poly Pomona. His love for travel and new experiences persuaded him to go overseas for his vet school career. He has recently settled back in San Diego after being away for 8 years. When he's not working he continues to look for opportunities to travel when he can, but he also likes to spend time in San Diego with his family. His hobbies include keeping active and enjoying the outdoors, and practicing martial arts.
