I wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 5 years old! I completed my undergraduate studies at Cornell University in Ithaca New York, and graduated from University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.
I worked in private practice for 8 years before joining Banfield in 2006. I worked as a travelling surgeon with Banfield for a year and a half before opening the Knightdale location. I enjoy soft tissue surgery and am most passionate about training and mentoring veterinary students and new grads.
I have 3 dogs(2 jack russells and a terrier mix rescue), a llama, 3 horses, 3 barn cats, and a green cheeked conure(small parrot) named "Pixie" who I have trained to play basketball, rollerskate, and play a tiny piano!
Outside of work, my horses are my passion and I compete with my horses in Hunter/jumper events.
Dr. Thomas grew up on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania. She has always had a passion for caring for animals and was lucky enough to be surrounded by so many growing up. She studied small animal science at Delaware Valley College and moved to North Carolina for veterinary school. Dr. Thomas and her husband loved the state and decided to stay! In her free time, she enjoys hiking, playing tennis, visiting neighboring towns, and antiquing. Dr. Thomas has a one-eyed cat named Curtis, who came from her family's farm in Pennsylvania, and she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine. She is excited to continue learning at this hospital!
Dr. Reyes' love of animals started as a child however he went into a different career after completing his undergraduate and master's degrees. It was not until he was living in Miami where he met his now wife, Jaclyn, that he thought about going back to school to pursue becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Reyes decided to study veterinary medicine at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, West Indies. Upon completing the coursework in St. Kitts, he and his family moved to Cary, NC where Dr. Reyes completed his clinical year at North Carolina State University in May 2016 and began practicing with Banfield in June of 2016. He and his wife live in Cary with their kids, Viviana, Rocco, and Valencia, along with Maximus (monkey), Trixie (bunny), and Goldie the fish.read more
