Dr. Nunez is a decorated US Air Force and Army veteran, originally from south Louisiana. He graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002 and has been practicing on Long Island ever since. His areas of professional interest include canine behavior, preventative medicine, dermatology, dentistry, obesity management, arthritis, and endocrinology. In 2007 Dr. Nunez started a canine behavior house call practice, The Balanced Canine. He also serves as a behavior consultant for several rescue groups, both local and nationwide. Dr. Nunez and his daughter Lauryn have a dog, Roxy, and a cat, Kelly. In his spare time he enjoys yoga and various forms of exercise, spending time with family and friends, the beach, and traveling.read more
As a graduate of Michigan State University and winner of 'Best Veterinarian' on Long Island for the fifth consecutive year (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018) Dr. Michael Funk uses an excellent set of core values to balance progressive medicine with practicality. Following Hurricane Sandy, Dr. Funk organized a relief effort for the animals of Long Island by recognizing the medical needs of animals affected by the disaster, but also the irreplaceable bond shared between a person and their companion. By blending open and frequent communication with a strong base of knowledge and experience, Dr. Funk guarantees supreme medical care for your pets. Trained and certified to perform Zeuterin, an F.D.A.-certified non-surgical sterilization method, Dr. Funk is able to offer an alternative to the traditional neutering procedure for certain dogs. He also has professional interest in neurology and seizure management, as well as surgery involving wound-repair. At home, Dr. Funk and his wife, Bernadette, have two canine family members, Sushi and Juno. When he is away from the hospital, you may find him on the softball field or hockey rink. An avid sports fan, Dr. Funk follows Michigan State football and basketball, New Jersey Devils hockey, and New York Mets baseball.read more
Dr. Fischman knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 5 years old. She is a graduate of Cornell University and her areas of special interests are preventative medicine, geriatrics, animal welfare, and client education. She enjoys interacting with dedicated clients who appreciate their animals as much as she does. Dr. Fischman has always had a menagerie of pets, and currently shares her home with Gideon, a Doberman Pinscher, Snookie, a Chihuahua, Penni, a senior Dachshund, and 4 cats named Wallaby, Flan, Grizzly, and Devon. When not at the hospital, Dr. Fischman enjoys hiking with dogs, horseback riding, gardening, cooking, scuba diving, skiing, and martial arts. She also believes in giving back to the community and volunteers her time with several rescue organizations on Long Island.read more
Dr. Max J Meltzer earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. George’s University in the beautiful West Indies, and completed clinical training at Louisiana State University. His first pet was a Cockapoo named Elvis, whose lovable personality and battle with cancer inspired him to pursue a career in the veterinary field.
Dr. Meltzer’s compassionate nature, veterinary medical skills, and dedication to serving clients and their pets makes Dr. Meltzer a valuable addition to the Levittown Animal Hospital team. He has professional interests in radiology and surgery, and has completed Fear Free Certification in an effort to minimize stress and anxiety in his patients.
A native New Yorker, Dr. Meltzer grew up in New York City and Merrick, and still resides in both locations today. He has three family pets: A Cockapoo named Sadie, a Maltipoo named Ella, and a feline named Casper. When Dr. Meltzer is not seeing patients, his favorite activities involve anything in the snow or in the water. He also likes to read, play board and card games with his friends and family, and watch movies. He is quite the movie connoisseur and sci-fi is his favorite genre.

Dr. Infernuso is highly trained and experienced in providing prompt and intensive management of patients with life-threatening conditions and those requiring extraordinary supportive care. Dr. Infernuso's caseload encompasses patients with a wide range of orthopedic, neurologic, oncologic, thoracic and soft tissue problems. He is available for surgery, consultations, assistance with difficult cases or when the use of specialized surgical equipment or techniques is required. Dr. Infernuso provides exceptional care to all pets through his commitment to science, technology and compassion.
Kristina is Levittown's Hospital Manager and has been a member of the team since 2008. Currently studying at Suffolk County Community College, Kristina is motivated to earn certification as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. At Levittown, Kristina does a fantastic job in helping onboard and mentor new employees. In her spare time, she delights in going to the beach, savoring sushi at Yuzu Japanese Restaurant, and watching Step Brothers. Fond of being part of a large family, Kristina is one of four children. Growing up in a home with a variety of different pets, Kristina has a natural love for all animals. She is the mother of two canines, Bella, a Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix, and Bernard, a Chihuahua-Italian Greyhound Mix. Can you believe Bernard can clap his paws!read more
