Since 1970, the veterinarians and staff at Mundelein Animal Hospital have been providing high quality veterinary medical care to the pets of Lake County, Illinois, and outstanding service to their families. We have built a reputation of being compassionate, experienced, honest and reliable. We treat dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, tortoises – and a rescued wallaby too!

We offer full-service diagnostic, medical and surgical care for your pet. We have separate medical, surgical, intensive care and isolation wards. We are equipped to provide digital x-rays, in-house laboratory testing, dental care and anesthetic monitoring. Our large boarding facility can accommodate dogs, cats and exotic pets. We are pleased to provide a comfortable space for your pet while you are away.

We are pleased to work with Lambs Farm, Libertyville, IL, the Save-A-Pet Shelter, Wildlife Discovery Center in Lake Forest, and the Lake County Forest Preserve District, providing veterinary care to deserving pets in Lake County, IL. We are also excited to be ranked as one of Chicagoland’s top 10 animal hospitals by the Consumers Checkbook survey. This survey was recognized and published in the Chicago Magazine and the Chicago Tribune.

Dr. Wallace
Dr. Wallace

Dr. Tim Wallace attended the University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana where he received his degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1973. He has worked in the Chicagoland area at other various hospitals before coming to the Mundelein Animal Hospital in 1995.

Although quiet and reserved in nature, Dr. Wallace's funny and irreverent sense of humor brings a positive and upbeat attitude to the hospital. His caring, thorough and precise treatment makes him a favorite of clients and pets alike! Dr. Wallace enjoys bird watching and photography, and has a parakeet named Green Bird. Dr. Wallace is a member of the American Veterinarian Medical Association, the Chicago Veterinarian Medical Association and president of the Evanston North Shore Bird club.

Dr. Herrmann
Dr. Herrmann

Native to nearby Barrington, Dr. Gery Herrmann attended Miami University in Ohio for his undergraduate studies. He received his DVM degree in 1983 from the University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana , and has been practicing at the Mundelein Animal hospital since 1986. Along with dogs and cats he treats a variety of exotic animals, such as reptiles, birds, ferrets, other small mammals and recently a wallaby. Dr. Herrmann is a member of the Association of Reptiles, an active member of the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinarian Medical Association. He has served on the board of the Chicago Veterinarian Medical Association and the Chicago Herpetological Society. Dr. Herrmann lives with his wife Darcy, a registered nurse. They have a variety of snakes, lizards and turtles. He enjoys sailing, skiing, scuba diving and hunting with his German Short Haired Pointer, Jorma.

Dr. Shannon Long
Dr. Shannon Long

Dr. Shannon Long joined the Mundelein Animal Hospital in 2010. She received her B.S. in Zoology at Miami University in Ohio, graduated as a Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine from the University of Illinois in 2001, and has been practicing in the Chicago area since. She and her husband have been married since 2005 and have a beautiful daughter. They also have two “Holstein” cats, siblings named Celery and Asparagus (from the musical Cats). Dr. Long enjoys biking, reading, travel, photography, and spending time with family and friends. Her interest in veterinary medicine began with the dogs her family had while growing up as a child. As a veterinarian, she sees a wide variety of pets. Not only will she see your dogs and cats, but exotics that includes birds and reptiles just to name a few. She is a member of the CVMA and the AVMA.

Dr. Horazy
Dr. Horazy

Dr. Horazy was born and raised in nearby Palatine. She received her B.S. in biology from the University of Notre Dame in 2007 and her DVM from Purdue University in 2011. After graduating from veterinary school, she practiced for 3 years for a large multi-hospital practice in Indianapolis where she became familiar with many different practice styles. She was even a solo doctor at her own location for a period of time; just 6 months after graduating from veterinary school! When her daughter Zoe was born in March 2014, Dr. Horazy decided to relocate back to Palatine and joined Mundelein Animal Hospital in August 2014. She has a passion for feline medicine, as evidenced by her five cats, Kfira, Kobe, Kount, Kody and Kobalt. She is also a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners. In her spare time she enjoys practicing Olympic lifting, cooking, and wine tasting.

Dr. Johnson
Dr. Johnson

Dr. Heather Johnson received her veterinary degree from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign in 2004 after also doing her undergraduate work there. She has lived in the Northwest suburbs her whole life and practiced in the western suburbs before joining Mundelein Animal Hospital in 2014.

She lives with her husband, Ryan, and daughter, Grace. They have 6 rescued pets: cats Spot, Alley, Louie, Sammy and Mozzie; a three legged dog named Ricky and 2 dwarf frogs named Mac & Cheese. She is passionate about animals and has known she wanted to be a veterinarian since childhood. Outside of work, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with family, traveling, boating, scuba diving and watching movies. She is a member of the AVMA.
