We are a state-of-the-art, full-service veterinary clinic serving the dogs, cats, exotics, horses, and livestock of Canton, IL, and the surrounding areas. As pet-owners ourselves, we understand how much your pet means to you. We support our clients in their efforts at responsible pet ownership through preventive veterinary health care, advanced diagnostic technology, and aggressive treatment for injury and disease, as well as educational resources and opportunities. We are able to provide a complete lineup of primary care services, including surgery and dental care, and we can provide referrals to specialists in the area should your pet ever require more advanced treatment.

David L. Hahn, DVM
David L. Hahn, DVM

A 1980 graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. David Hahn grew up in Sigourney, IA before relocating to Canton, IL. DVM and co-owner, he has the utmost appreciation for the dedicated and hard-working staff at Spoon River Animal Clinic. Sharing 35 years of expertise, Dr. Hahn cares for multiple generations of clients he calls friends. His interests are in small animal medicine and surgery, equine dentistry, and bovine production medicine and preventive programs. At home, he has a large family of two-legged and four-legged family members. Married with three children, Dr. Hahn also cares for five dogs, four cats, three horses, a sheep, donkey, and Black Angus cattle. His very first pet was a pony named Gypsy. Tracy's Supper Club is first-pick for local cuisine and he savors barbeque and fresh fish specialties. When Dr. Hahn is away from the clinic, he finds excitement in horseback riding, fishing, and shooting.

Over 35 years ago, Dr. Anthony Eaton pursued his passion for animals and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from University of Illinois. Ever since, he has been providing unmatched care for the animals of Spoon River Animal Clinic. While Dr. Eaton has a fondness for all animals, working with exotics excites him the most. A native to Peoria and a lover of pizza, he is a regular at Brienzo's Wood Fired Pizza. He cannot get enough! During his free time, he delights in model railroading, playing a game of golf, and gardening. Dr. Eaton is a husband, and father of two daughters, a son, and two canines- Quinn, a Dachshund and Rigby, a Chihuahua.

For 20 years, Angie has had the satisfaction of working with the committed staff and loyal clients of Spoon River Animal Clinic. Co-owner and practice manager, she takes pride in being able to alleviate any concerns pet-owners may have. Although she has some college experience, she most appreciates the knowledge she has had the benefit of learning at ISVMA (Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association) meetings over the years. Angie revels in time spent camping and fishing, and is forever in the mood to eat seafood.

Kari Kelso, DVM

Dr. Kari Jo Kelso is excited to join Spoon River Animal Clinic’s veterinary team as a part-time associate veterinarian. Growing up on a farm, Dr. Kelso knew she wanted to make a career out of working and caring for animals. She began working in the veterinary field in 2009, and completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences in 2015. Her areas of professional interest include ophthalmology and cytology. Dr. Kelso believes the best part of working in the veterinary field is the relationships she builds with all of her patients and their families.

Originally from Macomb, IL, Dr.Kelso currently resides there with her golden retriever, Ryder, and cat, Tex. When Dr. Kelso isn’t caring for animals, she enjoys reading, paddle boarding, and spending time at the lake. A fun fact about Dr. Kelso is that she has her own graphic t-shirt line! She travels, markets, and sells these t-shirts to boutiques across the country.

Sarah C. Phipps, DVM

Dr. Sarah Phipps is a 2007 graduate of University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Since graduation, she has practiced at Spoon River Animal Clinic as a DVM and has also become a co-owner. Gaining a sense of fulfillment from the relationships formed with clients, pets, and staff members, she has found a second home and extended family at Spoon River. Helping clients through each stage of their pet's life is a hallmark of her career. Highly compassionate, Dr. Phipps volunteers through a local sorority as well! Steak and potatoes is her personal feast of choice and there is a good chance you will find her dining at Tracy's Supper Club. She finds enjoyment in horseback riding, scary movies, and spending time with her beloved husband, son, and furry companions. Dr. Phipps adores her cat, Devaney, and three dogs, Cooper, Gus, and Jethro, who can sit, stay, and dig holes.
