Dr. Tal graduated from Wesleyan University on Middletown, CT with degree in Neuroscience and Behavior. When not working at VCA Brown, Dr. Tal enjoys spending time with her family, which consists of her husband, Geoff and sons, Liam and Eli. She hopes to someday find some free time to get back to playing the piano.

Dr. Kurt Kenney joined the Brown Animal Hospital in January 1998. An Iowa farm boy, he graduated from Iowa State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. He then completed an intership and surgical residency at the Animal Medical Center. Kurt has been a resident of Vermont since 1988. Dr. Kenney does a wide range of orthopedic, neurological, and soft tissue surgeries. Orthopedic procedures include, but are not limited to, CCL (fibular head transposition), FCP, OCD, and fractures repairs; femoral head ostectomies; and lameness exams. Kurt has been using CO2 laser as a routine part of almost every surgery. The laser seems to be especially beneficial with procedures involving the oral cavity, ears, anus, and urogential region

Dr. Averill graduated from Ohio State Veterinary school in 1989, cum laude. She completed an internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey the following year. She came to VCA Brown Animal Hospital in 1991 and enjoyed treating cats and dogs here ever since.
Former president of the Greater Burlington Area Veterinarians as well as the Vermont Veterinary Medical Association, Susan is married to Peter Averill, a practicing dairy veterinarian. They have two teenage daughters, Hannah and Summer, who are constantly begging them for more pets! Present pets include two dogs, Lizzie and Maddie, two miniature donkeys named Oliver and Twist, a flock of chickens, and a beta fish named Batman.
When not working, Susan and her family enjoy skiing in the winter and camping in the summer. She is in the process of renovating a 50 year old airstream, in which she and her husband have dreams of travelling cross country ( with pets of course)!
