Welcome to VCA Kaneohe Animal Hospital! We are a full-service veterinary hospital, accredited at the highest level by the American Animal Hospital Association, specializing in small animals. We have been a part of the VCA network since 1996, providing us with access to extensive veterinary resources.
We believe in the highest quality medicine and offer advanced services and equipment. In addition to our regular wellness care and general practice, we provide extensive experience in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, endoscopy and ultrasound services, and after-hour emergency on-call service and hospital care. We also provide alternative medicine in acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Our boarding services offer an air-conditioned environment with 24-hour access to a highly qualified veterinary staff. In addition, our pet store offers veterinary-approved diets and a wide variety of pet supplies and treats.
We are located on the island of Oahu, on the Windward side of the island, which is known for its spectacular view of the mountains and lush tropical feel. We are proud to provide the best in veterinary care in a beautiful community.
We are an AAHA accredited hospital offering animal quarantine, a full line of pet supplies, in-house endoscopy, internal medicine, obedience training, premium dog and cat foods, preventative health care, radiology, and orthopedic and soft-tissue surgery.

Dr. Dan Severson is a Kailua native and attended Damien Memorial High School, and he's proud of it! He obtained his undergraduate degree from Bradley University and attended veterinary school at Colorado State University. He performed his residency at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Severson joined VCA Kaneohe as Chief of Surgery in 1997 and has a special interest and extensive experience in orthopedic surgery. His past experience includes a two-year internship at Darien Animal Hospital in Connecticut, three years at Cornell University, and six years at Companion Animal Hospital, formerly in Kailua.
Dr. Severson is a member of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association and past member of Honolulu Veterinary Society. Dr. Severson shares his busy home with his wife Maureen, son Zachary, dog Cici and cat Cat (short for Catahula). When Dr. Severson is not providing his services as one of the foremost surgeons in Hawaii, he is an avid soccer player and reader and also spends time bodysurfing.
School: Oregon State University
Dr. Carol Ochiai was born and raised in Hawaii. She graduated from high school at Mid-Pacific Institute and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts and Science in neurobiology and animal behavior at Cornell University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the combined campuses of Oregon State University and Washington State University.
After graduating, Dr. Ochiai worked at several different clinics throughout the islands, including the quarantine station and Hickam Air Force Base, before settling at VCA Kaneohe in 2004 as a General Practitioner and now resides in Pearl City. She has two cats, Kaimana and Cindy, and one dog, Gus. Her hobbies are weight lifting, Bikram yoga, hiking, biking, movies, finding new places to eat good food, and hanging out and relaxing with the kids.
She is a current member of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Hawaii Veterinary Society. She is also a past Treasurer of the Hawaii Veterinary Society.
Dr. Jason Gray was born In Helifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Visiting Oahu for the first time in 2010, Dr. Gray quickly became accustomed to island life and eagerly awaited the opportunity to move here permanently.
Dr. Gray joined VCA Kaneohe Animal Hospital in October 2015. his special interests include general surgery, preventative wellness care and alternative medicine.
In his spare time he enjoys surfing, paddle boarding, live music and exploring the island with his French bulldog, "Toddles" .
