Dr. Gina Connelly grew up in Philadelphia. After she obtained her veterinary degree, she moved to Washington, D.C. and completed a one-year internship, rotating through small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency. She then worked at a small private practice outside of Baltimore, MD before moving back to the Philadelphia area and joining our team.
Dr. Connelly resides with her husband and children and her furbabies; a rescued Maltese mix named Kayla and a diva-cat named Kendall. She enjoys running, biking, reading, watching the Phillies, and spending time with her family and friends
Why I do what I do:
My decision to enter the field of veterinary medicine originated with my love of the science. The choice was further motivated by my wish to help animals and people.
Dr. Friedman is orginally from Shamokin, Pennsylvania and moved to the Philadelphia area in 1989 to attend veterinary school and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. She currently resides in Warminster with her husband, Richard, and their son and daughter. The family enjoys their many pets, a beagle mix and five cats.
Why I do what I do:
Pets are always there for us with a simple wag of their tail, lick of our hand or content purr. Their unconditional love and loyalty is inspiring. As a veterinarian I am able to help strengthen the human-animal bond by helping to keep pets healthy. Everyday I witness the happiness and love shared by pets and their owners. I am truly blest to have such a rewarding career.
Dr. Sweeney grew up in New Jersey where she was always surrounded by a wide array of pets ranging from hamsters to goats. From a very young age, she knew she wanted to pursue a career working with animals. Dr. Sweeney graduated from Rider College with a degree in Biology and then earned her veterinary degree at The University of Pennsylvania in 1997. Dr. Sweeney and her husband lived in the Adirondacks where she practiced for several years before returning to the area. Dr. Sweeney joined VCA Neshaminy in 2004 and currently resides in Yardley with her family. She enjoys spending time with family, skiing, biking and participating in triathlons.
Why I do what I do:
"When I was young our house was always full of animals of all types and I loved science, so as I grew older there was nothing else I wanted to do besides become a veterinarian. I enjoy what I do because everyday is a new challenge. Over the years, my patients and their owners have become part of my family".
Dr. Myers was born and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania. During her childhood years, she spent most of her time on her aunt?s nearby dairy farm. It was through these experiences that Dr. Myers gained great interest and concern for animal welfare and husbandry. These interests motivated Dr. Myers to pursue an undergraduate degree in the sciences. She completed her B.S. in Biology from the Pennsylvania State University in 1993. Dr. Myers then entered the School of Veterinary Medicine Program at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her doctorate degree in 1997.Following graduation, Dr. Myers gained employment as a small animal practitioner and began her career at the Trevose Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Myers joined the staff here when Trevose Veterinary Hospital merged with Vca Neshaminy in the Fall of 2006. What a great addition! Dr. Myers? interests are soft tissue surgery and to provide her clients and patients with quality time and care. Her hobbies are biking, travel, and spending quality time with her family and friends, while residing in Washington Crossing.read more
Dr. Thomas grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She had a love for animals from a very young age, and through her childhood, welcomed many furry and feathered critters into her home, regardless of her parents wishes.
Dr. Thomas went on to Clemson University to pursue her bachelors degree in Animal Science, and later onto the University of Pennsylvania for her doctorate degree. She fell in love with Philadelphia while in vet school, and was very fortunate to stay and begin her career at VCA Neshaminy Animal Hospital. She currently lives in Fishtown with her awesome roommate, Rose, their perfect dog, Scarlett, and two spoiled kitties, Pip and Tig. She enjoys biking up the Schuylkill, yoga, live music, and all of the great food and beer that Philadelphia has to offer.
What Dr. Thomas loves most about being a veterinarian is seeing the incredible bond that clients have with their pets, and being able to provide support to them in their time of need.
