Dr. Chris Tsai grew up in the Washington D.C. area and went on to receive his undergraduate biology degree at U.C. Berkeley. He received his veterinary degree at the University of Pennsylvania in June 2003 and practiced two years at a veterinary hospital in the Philadelphia area before joining McClave Veterinary Hospital in 2005. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and has special interest in surgery, internal medicine and oncology. During his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, eating and spending time with his family - his wife, their two sons, Carter and Connor, and their dogs, Sadie and Maddieread more
Dr. Vicario is a local San Diegan from Del Mar and is very excited to join the VCA North Coast family. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis. After vet school, she completed an internship with an emphasis on emergency and critical care at the Pet Emergency & Specialty Center in La Mesa. Her special interests include care of geriatric pets, dermatology, ophthalmology, and communication.
Dr. Vicario has a strong interest in international work and travel. While in veterinary school she conducted research in Nicaragua and South Africa. She recently returned from Indonesia and loves visiting her family in Argentina. Dr. Vicario also enjoys scuba diving, hiking, dancing and appreciating the beautiful nature California has to offer.
She is owned by her mischievous basset hound Darwin (adopted from Rancho Coastal Humane Society) and vocal kitty Jerri. Dr. Vicario is fluent in Spanish and available for Spanish-speaking families. Disponible para consultas en Español.
Dr. Chapman started off in the veterinary world as a technician in the early 2000’s in Columbus, OH. She went on to graduate with an Animal Sciences degree from The Ohio State University. Following her undergraduate degree, she completed four years of veterinary school at The Ohio State University and graduated in 2013. She spent her internship year in Albuquerque, New Mexico and then practiced emergency and general medicine in Sacramento, CA for two years. In 2016 she landed in beautiful San Diego at VCA Northcoast and plans to stay for a long time. Her special interests include emergency medicine, dentistry, internal medicine and surgery. She has three dogs: Alice, an English Setter; Kennedy, an Australian Shepherd and Gunny, a miniature long-haired dachshund. She and her fiancé love taking the dogs to run on the beach! She also enjoys woodworking, hiking, and running.
Dr. Kevin Baker has been in the veterinary field since 2006. From kennel worker, groomer, research assistant, technician to doctor… he has explored nearly every facet of veterinary practice. Dr. Baker attended UCLA and received his bachelors degree in biology. After working as a doctor's assistant for a veterinary internist for a year, he went on to attend UC Davis to earn his veterinary degree. During Veterinary school Dr. Baker was actively involved with helping pets of the homeless through the Mercer Clinic Organization. After graduating he completed a one year small animal emergency focused internship in San Diego.
Dr. Baker has special interests in wellness/preventative care, surgery, cardiology and emergency medicine. During his free time he enjoys snowboarding, surfing, hiking, backpacking and spending time with his dog Hendrix.
