DVM, University of Minnesota
Dr. Barno was born and raised in Minnesota and received his degree from the University of Minnesota in 1980. He began his career at Rock Creek Animal Hospital and continues to enjoy the long term relationships with clients and their families whether they have 2 or 4 legs, fur, feathers or scales. In the photo he is holding Henry, who became a family member 26 years ago.
David enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and has special interests in surgery, dentistry, birds and reptiles.
David and his wife Linda live in Hillsboro and have three children. They keep busy at home taking care of the cattle, horses, tortoises, dogs, cats, birds, etc. A good reason to pursue a veterinary career when you have always had so many critters.
Outside of work David enjoys outdoor activities and good friends.
DVM, Oregon State University
Dr. Brennan received her Bachelor's degree from Idaho State University, where she was a member of the women's basketball team. She then came home to Oregon to obtain her veterinary degree at Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and quickly joined the team at Rock Creek. Her special interests include: dentistry, ultrasound, laparscopic procedures, and wellness education.
Dr. Brennan lives on her family's cattle ranch in north Hillsboro, where she still gets to dabble in some large animals. She enjoys every moment she gets to spend with her wonderful family in such a beautiful place, even though the chores never cease.
DVM, Colorado State University
Dr. Marie Higel is an Arizona native, has always enjoyed veterinary medicine, and takes pride in supporting the bond that clients share with their pets. While working towards her degree in veterinary medicine, she was a veterinary technician for over 10 years. She earned her degree in veterinary science from the University of Arizona in 2003. She then went on to earn her veterinary degree from Colorado State University in 2007. Her interests include surgery, emergency medicine, and exotic animals including aquatic species. She moved to Oregon in the summer of 2007, and happily joined Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital in the fall of 2009.
Outside of work, Dr. Higel enjoys spending time with her husband, Joe, and their 2 dogs and 3 cats. She also bides her time with cooking, amateur nature photography, and enjoying all the ocean beaches, rivers, and lakes the Northwest has to offer.
