James Peters, VMD-Medical Director
James Peters, VMD-Medical Director

We are so exciting to announce the addition of Dr. James Peters to our team! A native of the area, Dr.Peters recently joined VCA Wellington Animal Hospital and Family Pet Resort as our new Medical Director. He attended the University of Pennsylvania and received his Bachelor�s Degree in Biology in 1977 and his Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris degree in 1983. Dr. Peters� professional interests include internal medicine, dermatology and soft tissue surgery. He has also completed continuing education courses in ultrasound and laser surgery.

Dr. Peters and his family share a home with an impressive menagerie of animals, including dogs, cats, a parrot, parakeets, box turtles and red-eared sliders. When not at work, Dr. Peters enjoys photography, painting, writing, gardening and fishing.

Dan Kirsch, VMD
Dan Kirsch, VMD

Dr. Dan Kirsch is originally from upstate New York near Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame. He moved to the area to obtain his undergrad degree at Haverford College and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. He currently lives in Collegeville, PA with his girlfriend and boisterous orange male cat named Cosby. He enjoys attending live music concert, kayaking in the Poconos, and he is trying to pick up a little nature photography on the side! He is an avid sports fan and enjoys playing in area softball and football leagues. Professionally, his interests include internal medicine and dermatology cases, but he says nothing beats playing with the puppies and kittens!

Michelle Rupp, VMD,  Rehab Director
Michelle Rupp, VMD, Rehab Director

Dr. Rupp is a 1992 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Animal BioScience and a minor in Microbiology. She worked for Merck for a year making human vaccines then attended the University of Pennsylvania of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Rupp returned to merck and held positions of increasing responsibility in support of safety and manufacture of human vaccine and biological. While at Merck, Dr. Rupp started a mobile small animal practice and studied veterinary acupuncture. During 2004-2007, Dr. Rupp was the Director of Laboratory Animal Resources for the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and later Charles River Laboratories; having primary concern for the oversight of the welfare and pain management for research animals. Dr. Rupp returned to general medicine in 2007 and pursued training in Rehabilitative Medicine. Throughout her career, Dr. Rupp has worked as a relief veterinarian and owned her own acupuncture and rehabilitative medicine practice.
Dr. Rupp is married and has a daughter who is interested in a career in veterinary medicine. They currently share their home with a Rhodesian Ridgeback (Bella), cats (Max and Grady) and guinea pigs (Mimi and Dori). Dr. Rupp�s personal interests are reading, horseback riding, crafts, stained glass and antiques. In her spare time, Dr. Rupp advocates for her daughter and other children with developmental disabilities. She is currently entering the political arena as a candidate for her local school board.

Ashley Nixon, DVM
Ashley Nixon, DVM

Dr. Ashley Nixon is a Chester County native, and got her BS in neuroscience from Bucknell University. She is a 2016 graduate of St. Matthew�s University School of Veterinary Medicine, and completed her clinical training at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, she has worked at Parx Racing as a Lasix veterinarian and furthering post-graduate training at Virginia Tech�s Equine Medical Center. She is USDA accredited in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Her professional interests include sports medicine & regenerative medicine, anesthesia & pain management, and preventative medicine. She has received training in veterinary acupuncture from the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys equine sports, swimming and photography..
