West Hills Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.
We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite and a closely supervised hospitalization area.
At West Hills Animal Hospital we strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years. Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn't feeling well, but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy.
Our doctors are committed to providing the very best quality medical and surgical care in a compassionate and considerate manner. They place a strong emphasis on client education so that you are educated about how to keep your pet healthy and happy.
Our veterinarians take a team oriented approach to medical care, sharing ideas and expertise on difficult cases. The older vets provide wisdom gained through experience and the newer vets bring innovative new treatment and surgical options.. and your pet benefits!
All the veterinarians on our team share an exceptionally strong commitment to continuing education. Each doctor attends conferences, seminars, and skill training opportunities each year. The doctor's meet once weekly to share knowledge gained from continuing education, discuss cases, and strategize about ways to provide the very best medical care to their patients and service to their clients.
But, what really makes our doctors so special? It's all about caring!
Dr. Dawn Lawson is a native of Sherman Oaks, CA. When she was just five years old, she planned her life as a veterinarian. A Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly Pomona along with employment in small animal hospitals as kennel help, receptionist and veterinary assistant lead up to veterinary school. Dr. Lawson earned her DVM at Oklahoma State University in 1984. She owned a small animal practice in Sacramento for eleven years, then joined a large group veterinary practice for another six years. In December 2000, Dr. Lawson returned to Southern California and quickly joined the staff at West Hills Animal Hospital. Dr Lawson enjoys time with her husband, Dr. Greg Lawson (also a veterinarian) and three children, four dogs, one cat, a number of miscellaneous birds, tropical fish, and a large koi pond. With two children in college and one in high school, her life is full of school activities (and work). The family enjoys all pet activities together especially training and showing purebred dogs. When time allows she enjoys traveling, being in the great outdoors, reading, crafting, and entertainment.read more
Here at West Hills Animal Hospital we are lucky to have Dr. Sylvia Moussa as our newest addition to the staff. Born and raised in Encino, California, Dr. Moussa moved to Egypt in 1998. She completed her degree at Cairo University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Upon returning to the U.S. she continued her studies at Oklahoma State University auditing the pre-clinical year. Dr. Moussa then completed one year of rotations at The Cornell University Hospital for Animals. Here at W.H.A.H. our clients and our staff are impressed with Dr. Moussa's professionalism and passion. She has just recently added a new member to her family, poodle Coco Chanel. Coco has quickly become her best friend and a great addition to the hospital staff. In their off time they enjoy the outdoors, including water sports. Dr. Moussa looks forward to introducing Coco to winter sports. Whether it be her dedication to improving the lives of her patients or her love for wake boarding and travel she approaches any challenge with vitality and a warm smile.read more
